| Arizona Governor’s Youth Commission - Committee on Education |
 |
|
This is an ad-hoc committee dedicated to providing policy recommendations on issues related to education, specifically on increasing the high school graduation rate in Arizona.
We envision a state in which there are no high school dropouts, and the education system is made more relevant to students.
Goals:
- Encourage the implementation of service-learning into academic curricula.
- Recommend options and different educational opportunities for youth including: vocational, home-schooling, online classes, and GED.
- Promote further parental involvement in schools.
- Increase communication between schools and families.
- Offer mentoring resources for dropout students.
Currently, the committee is working on interviewing teachers, community organizers, and high school dropouts about their opinions on increasing the high school graduation rate.
